PVC-SiO2-Ag composite as a powerful biocide and anti-SARS-CoV-2 material

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has pushed scientists and technologists to find novel strategies develop new materials prevent the transmission, spread, entry of pathogens into human body. In this report, fabrication polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-SiO2-Ag composite is presented, in which percentage Ag 0.84% wt. Our findings render that eliminates (> 99.8%) bacteria fungus (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Penicillium funiculosum) SARS-CoV-2, by surface contact 2 h hours 15 min, respectively. Specific migration analysis shown use PVC-SiO2-Ag considered safe effective for food preservation. This research innovation front can be a breakthrough design biocide materials. Future directions exciting highly significant field open door development technologies packaging films protect consumer products (such as fruits, vegetables, other foods).
